Moulins
Château des ducs de Bourbon
The emblematic monument of Moulins and the Bourbonnais region, the keep of the medieval castle of the Dukes of Bourbon, humorously known as the Tousled because of its cut-off roof, was built at the end of the fourteenth century.
After having experienced the glories of the ducal court, it was transformed into a prison well before the Revolution. This use continued till 1983, and during the dark years of the Second World War, resistants and collaborators succeeded one another in its cells. Guides reveal the prison past of the building to visitors on guided tours.
