Vinezac
Lieu d'internement
On May 27, 28 and 29 1940, about a hundred refugees from several countries arrived in Vinezac, which had been designated as the assembly point for foreigners other than Belgians. They were sent to a number of partly or totally unoccupied houses that had been requisitioned for the purpose. The largest barracks was set up at the Chateau at the county seat. Some of the refugees were assigned to Foreign Worker Groups in accordance with the decree of September 27, 1940; others were taken up later in German round-ups.
