The Grand Baths Hotel in Vals-les-Bains was an internment center for a number of political figures held by Vichy authorities to have been responsible for the defeat. After transiting by Pellevoisin and Aubenas, from mid-February 1941, Paul Reynaud, Georges Mandel, Marx Dormoy, Vincent Auriol, Jules Moch, Antoine Montel, Jacques Moutet, Salomon Grumbach, Wladimir Sokolowsky and François Colombani were all held there; apart from Reynaud and Mandel, they were all released between February 17 and April 5, 1941.
