Stone marker in memory of the resistance group organized by Alice Arteuil. As a resistant, she started by distributing leaflets and underground newsletters, then took up the command of a small group of maquis that merged with the FTPF (Franc-Tireurs et Partisans - one of several resistance organizations). As head of the group, she directed several sabotage operations (derailing trains, blowing up train tracks and telephone cables). After the Allies landed in Normandy and Provence, she participated in the liberation of the bends in the Doubs, at Valentigney and at Montbéliard. She was promoted to Lieutenant, but had to withdraw from combat, when the general staff prohibited women in armed actions.
