Plaque on the clandestine office of Berty Albrecht. In April 1941, she was in charge of the question of women's unemployment in the Lyonnais region at Place Jules-Grandclément in Villeurbanne. She was suspected of dissident activities and arrested in her office in October 1941, but released the same evening. She was arrested again in January 1942 and taken to Vichy. The head of Territorial Security released her on a mission to tell Henri Frenay that he wanted to meet with him. Because of her frequent absences and two arrests, she was encouraged to resign. Her home was searched at the end of April 1942, but she had time to burn all her compromising documents. When she was imprisoned, she went on a hunger strike, and was transfered to the Saint-Joseph prison in  Lyon. After being convicted on October 30, 1942, and sentenced to six months in prison and a 6000 franc fine, she pretened to be insane so successfully that she was interned at the Vinatier asylum in  Lyon. A raid by the  Combat resistance movement on December 22, 1942, let her escape. She refused to go to London and hid out in Cluny. After being notified of an important meeting, she went to the Hôtel de Bourgogne in Mâcon on May 28, 1943 and was arrested on the spot. She died of unknown causes at the prison in Fresnes on May 31, 1943.

She was one of the six women decorated as a Companion of the Liberation.
