Plaque commémorative
Plaque in memory of four hostages killed by the Gestapo. "On Saturday, August 19, 1944, the Germans shot four people in rue Bataille. After the attack on August 16 by FFI (French Interior Forces) on the Edouard Herriot School, in rue Bataille, where there were Mobile Reserve Groups (paramilitary strike teams organized by the Vichy government), German soldiers set fire to a building at 164 rue Bataille that belonged to Mr. Gay, a milkman, whom they shot. They also shot Mr. Rachid, a barman, Mr Guillard, a milk-deliveryman from Heyrieux and Mr Wasile Rezensvart, of 37 rue Siegnemartin."
