Stèle commémorative
Stone marker in memory of the crew of the B-24 H Liberator "Patsy Jack". On August 2, 1944, during a bombing run on the "Le Pontet" oil refinery, the plane was hit by flak, and fell back over Haute-Loire. The crew bailed out of the burning aircraft; the pilot, Lieutenant George Cappleman, stayed at the controls till he found a way of tying down the joystick to insure that his plane would not crash into the villages on its path.
