Stone marker in memory of the parachute drop on August 1, 1944: 899 containers of weapons and ammunition were brought in for the Resistance by 78 US B-17s, escorted by P-38s. US Marine Corps Instructor Sergeant Charles R Perry was parachuted in to join the Resistants, but was killed when his parachute failed to open. He is buried at the US cemetery in Draguignan: section C, row 11, tomb 2.
