Stele in memory of Claude Boulivan, Clément Monachon et Georges Vavrille.
As a consequence of the D-Day, members of the Ain Resistance built barricades in Vonnas village to slow down the German retreat. The German army, supported by the Dagostini militia, launched a repressive operation.
It was in this context that Claude Boulivan, Clément Monachon and Georges Vavrille were killed on June 12, 1944.
Claude Boulivan died in action during the battle against the repressive forces. As for Clément Monachan and Georges Vavrille, they were among the seven Vonnassiens arrested and executed that same day in Vonnas.
