Plaque on the house of Suzanne Terret, a communist resistant arrested in February 1943, who died of exhaustion in prison on August 14, 1943. She was awarded the distinction "Mort pour la France" on February 12, 1946, together with the status of political prisoner and the rank of warrant officer. In 1955, the Veterans' Ministry contested the cause and effect link between her arrest and the act of resistance. A long administrative procedure led to the withdrawal of the distinction of emprisoned resistant, as "it was an administrative internment as a security measure" in the view of the court, which ruled on the basis of a law of 1939 that provided for the repression of communist activists. The local Communist Party and Veterans' Associations campaigned against the decision. The nursery school in Saint-Germain-des-Fossés has borne the name of Suzanne Terret since the city council ordinance of October 13 1954.
