Paul, however, was sent to Auschwitz in convoy 76 on June 30, 1944. Only one person escaped the German opeeration: Jacques Frances hid in a stream and eventually got away to l'Abbaye Notre-Dame des Dombes. With the help of Roger Meyer's parents, he joined the maquis in Jura.
