Stone marker in memory of the moonlight couriers at Saint-Vulbas. The monument, inaugurated on September 19, 1992, near the clandestine "Fig" airfield, at Curebourse near the Bergeries in Saint-Vulbas commemorates the covert air operations in the Ain Plain. "Fig" is one of the four undercover airfields recognized in the triangle formed by Meximieux, Lagnieu, and Pont de Cheruy. The Landing and Parachute Section of Ain arranged for a twin-engine Hudson to land here on the night of 24-25 July 1943, and for two Lysanders on the nights of June 4-5 and July 11-12, 1944.
