Plaque commémorative
Plaque in memory of Alexandre Dardel, a railroad man with the SNCF who worked for the resistance with the FTPF (Franc-Tireurs et Partisans - one of several resistance organizations). As a group chief, he had three armed teams under his orders, including one head by Antoine Fontlupt. On returning from a maquis mission in Lamure-sur-Azergues, he went on August 9, 1944, to a wine-stand at the Pont Mouton to meet a former comrade of whom he was suspicious. As he approached the place, the man wounded him in the thigh. He was overcome and taken to Gestapo headquarters on the place Bellecour where he was tortured to death.
