Plaque commémorative

Plaque by Paul Garcin on the building that formerly housed the German hospital in the Croix-Rousse. On June 15, 1944, five patients detained there escaped from the hospital, having made a hole in the ceiling. In reprisal, the Germans killed four other patients. The four were being held for membership in the resistance, including Georges Lyvet of the FTPF (Franc-Tireurs et Partisans - one of several resistance organizations).
