Saint-Cergues

Monument du Bois Davaud

Commemorative monument in a garden planter, made up of a bas-relief representing a bare-chested man holding a rifle and below it an inclined plaque engraved: "The town of Saint-Cergues in gratitude to its liberators. On August 16, 1944, in these woods Baulmel Pierre aged 20, Grobel Louis 23, Cross Roger 20 and Jolowilz Georges 16, enlisted in Company 93 23 of the FTPF (Franc-Tireurs et Partisans - one of several resistance organizations) died liberating our town from German barbarism. Their memory is imperishable, our gratitude eternal."

The monument was cleaned and the plaque changed at an unknown date.
